FAQ
Great Lacquer Gourd Section
1. Will it break?
• Answer: The gourd is naturally formed. Under normal use and proper maintenance, it has good durability. However, it will be damaged if it is subjected to severe collisions or is in a harsh environment for a long time (such as high temperature, high humidity, or a strongly corrosive environment).
• Analysis and Supplementary: Natural handicraft products have a certain degree of hardness and toughness. However, the main body of the gourd is made of natural materials, which are relatively fragile. It is recommended to avoid contact with sharp and hard objects and choose a dry and ventilated place for storage.
2. Will the lacquer peel off?
• Answer: The natural great lacquer process makes it difficult to peel off under normal use. However, it may peel off if it frequently rubs and scratches against hard objects or comes into contact with chemical solvents.
• Analysis and Supplementary: The great lacquer has good adhesion. However, external forces and chemical factors will affect its firmness. In daily use, avoid wiping it with rough items and contact it with chemicals such as gasoline and other solvents.
3. Can the inside of the gourd hold boiling water, wine, or beverages?
• Answer: It can, but the great lacquer gourd is not designed to hold high-temperature liquids. High temperatures may cause the gourd material to deform and affect the stability of the great lacquer. But there is no problem with wine and beverages. Just make sure to clean it thoroughly when not in use.
• Analysis and Supplementary: Although the great lacquer has a certain degree of heat resistance, the gourd itself is not resistant to high temperatures. Boiling water can damage the gourd. If you want to hold liquids, it is recommended that you hold normal-temperature water or beverages at a low temperature and do not store them for a long time.
4. What is the inside of the gourd made of?
• Answer: The inside is made of natural gourd material. The great lacquer is processed on the surface and inside of the natural gourd.
• Analysis and Supplementary: Natural great lacquer is a liquid collected from lacquer trees. It is initially milky gray and turns black and hard after being oxidized in the air. It has properties such as anti-corrosion, acid resistance, alkali resistance, boiling water resistance, and insulation. It is known as the “King of Coatings” and is the first natural polymer material used by humans. A lacquer tree can only produce about 10 kilograms of raw lacquer in its lifetime, and it takes about 3,000 lacquer trees to collect 1 kilogram, with high costs and expensive prices.
5. Is natural great lacquer toxic or harmful?
• Answer: As a natural material, the cured natural great lacquer, after it dries, is non-toxic and harmless and will not cause harm to people.
• Analysis and Supplementary: The natural great lacquer process has a long history and has been developed in China for over 7,000 years. In any dynasty, great lacquer was a tribute for both the folk and the royal family and was applied to various types of furniture, tableware, ornaments, musical instruments, etc.
Oil-paper Umbrella Section
1. Is the oil-paper umbrella waterproof?
• Answer: It is waterproof. The umbrella surface of the oil-paper umbrella has been specially treated and coated with a natural waterproof substance. Raindrops will slide off when they fall on it, which has a certain waterproof effect.
• Analysis and Supplementary: However, if it is used frequently or exposed to severe rainy weather for a long time, the waterproof performance will decline. It is necessary to dry it in time for maintenance after use.
2. Can the oil-paper umbrella be used on a windy day?
• Answer: It is not recommended. The oil-paper umbrella’s frame is mostly made of bamboo, and the overall structure is relatively light. It is easy to be blown over and even damaged in strong winds.
• Analysis and Supplementary: If winds exceed level 4, it is best to replace the oil-paper umbrella with a more sturdy windproof umbrella to avoid damaging it.
3. How to maintain the oil-paper umbrella?
• Answer: After use, make sure to open it and allow it to dry properly. Keep it out of direct sunlight, store it in a dry and well-ventilated area, and protect it from sharp objects.
• Analysis and Supplementary: Regularly apply tung oil to the umbrella surface, enhancing its waterproof performance and durability and extending its service life.
4. Can the oil-paper umbrella be customized with patterns?
• Answer: Many merchants provide customization services. You can choose traditional patterns according to your needs or have personalized designs.
• Analysis and Supplementary: You need to communicate in advance for customized patterns. The production cycle may be longer than that of ordinary oil-paper umbrellas, and the price will also increase accordingly.
5. What is the service life of the oil-paper umbrella?
• Answer: If it is properly maintained, it can be used for several years. If the maintenance is poor and it is frequently used in harsh environments, it may be damaged in a few months.
• Analysis and Supplementary: The frequency of use and the maintenance method greatly impact its service life. Only with reasonable use and maintenance can it last longer.
